Hearing Tests in Irving, TX
If you suspect you have hearing loss, or another sound sensitivity disorder, the first step is to schedule a hearing evaluation. Our hearing specialist is an expert in administering hearing tests and can successfully determine the severity of your hearing loss and can recommend treatment options that are tailored to you. Initial hearing exams are booked for 90 minutes.
When you come to The Hearing and Tinnitus Center of Dallas-Fort Worth for a hearing test, here is what you can expect.
The Interview:
To begin your appointment, our audiologist will ask you some questions about your current hearing ability, what your concerns are, and some questions about your family and medical history.
The Examination:
After a discussion, then we will perform an ear exam by looking inside your ears at the ear canal and tympanic membrane (eardrum). This to rule out any ear infections or impacted earwax that may be affecting your hearing ability.
The Hearing Test:
Next we will administer a hearing test. The hearing test is quick and painless. We will test your ability to hear different words and tones at various frequencies. This measures how well you can hear sounds and speech at different volumes. If you are experiencing symptoms of tinnitus, we can also perform a tinnitus test during your evaluation.
Treatment Options:
After the hearing test we will go over your treatment options. If you would be a good candidate for hearing aids, we will go over the models we carry and help you choose a device that will help you.

If you wear hearing aids, then you rely on your devices to provide you with better hearing every day. For this reason, our hearing center provides a wide range of hearing aid services to help you keep your devices performing their best. Hearing Aid Troubleshooting
Even with proper care, it’s important to bring your hearing aids in every six months for professional maintenance. This will ensure your hearing aids continue to provide you with better hearing. There are some common hearing aid repairs that you can try if you’re having problems with your devices.
- Clean your hearing aids using a cleaning tool
- Remove and reinsert your hearing aid
- Replace your battery (if not rechargeable)
- Replace the wax filter
- Open and close the battery compartment
- Check your input settings
- Make sure the battery compartment is free of obstructions
